A Message from Yehudit and Ellen
Welcome to the first ESD Global Update.
We are excited to share with you all of the great work that is happening now to create access to empowerment self-defense (ESD).
In just over a week, we will welcome 30 women from around the world to the 2nd ESD Global Camp to learn to teach ESD. Their communities range from India to Costa Rico to Chile to East LA to the US Olympic Safe Sport program.
We have started a GoFundMe campaign because this ambitious effort needs broad support.
Please join us on Facebook for our "10 Days to Camp Countdown" event.
We know that our approach to ESD training works because the seeds planted at last year's ESD Global Camp have grown into collaborations to start a new IMPACT program at the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Reservation in North Dakota and to teach ESD at the masters level in the UN Peace University's Gender and Peace program as well as a new non-profit organization, ESD Global, dedicated to scaling access to ESD.
On Sunday night August 5th, our first night at camp, we will watch Ellen Snortland's film Beauty Bites Beast because it is such an important overview of the power of ESD to teach women the skills they need to set boundaries and prevent violence and the cultural gaps that continue to make it a challenge to scale programs broadly.
We are thrilled that you can now stream Beauty Bites Beast on Amazon Prime. We invite you to get a group of friends together to watch it and talk about how you want to empower the people you care about. Let us know how we can help you.
We hope you are having a safe, fun summer.
Sincerely,
Yehudit Zicklin-Sidikman, Founder, ESD Global
Ellen Krause-Grosman, Executive Director, ESD Global
