On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the accomplishments of our global network of ESD advocates: over 150 Empowerment Self Defense instructors, who are, in turn, training thousands of women, and children to defend themselves against violence in over 50 countries!

Since our founding as an international movement in 2017, 6540 individuals, including victims of trafficking, girls at risk, rural women, social workers, refugees, students, mothers and daughters, and hotel workers, have been taught by new ESD instructors trained by ESD Global.

ESD Global, GWBF & Indigo Volunteers piloted an online program creating a safe learning space for women in refugee hotspots.

Although many in-person instructor trainings have recently been put on hold due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and associated lockdowns, ESD instructors pivoted quickly, shifting ESD classes online to keep women and children safe!

ESD Albania consolidated an online ESD training methodology in partnership with UN Women Albania & ESD Global. The online course was followed by an in-person training adhering to safety measures.

Many ESD trainers continue to navigate their new realities with resilience, teaching ESD virtually or following health guidelines to ensure student safety during in-person trainings. "Our hearts are full of gratitude for your support teaching webinars, working on committees, sharing your ideas, and giving generously to make programs possible", says Yehudit Zicklin-Sidikman, ESD Global Founder and President.

Thank you for teaching vulnerable individuals life-saving ESD skills in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that is challenging us all to set new boundaries around safety! We are so grateful for you!
