ESD Global Launches Virtual Internship Program

ESD Global welcomes an international cohort of interns to its newly launched virtual internship program. 13 interns hailing from 10 countries are contributing to our mission to provide people with valuable Empowerment Self-Defense skills to stay safe and live violence free lives. The internship program, in collaboration with the UN-mandated University for Peace (UPeace) in Costa Rica aims to provide practical experience to diverse talent to develop their competencies while playing a pivotal role in preventing gender-based violence.

Reanne Raymond, ESD Global's Research and Resource Mobilization Intern for North America says: “I am so excited to work with this wonderful team and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish this summer!”

Interns are collaborating on projects to give them a meaningful opportunity to support the development of ESD Global programs and initiatives. These projects draw on their educational experience in fields related to research, education and activism. The program is spread over 3 months. ESD Global advisors are mentoring interns through online meetings in light of safety precautions due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Tadiwanashe Christabel Mateta, a recent international development graduate from Zimbabwe is passionate about gender equality and strongly believes in ensuring the safety of women across the globe. Her interest is gender and development motivated her to join ESD Global’s Research and Partnership Program for Southern Africa.

Eimear Breslin from Ireland joins ESD Global as a Research and Resource Mobilization intern for Western & Central Europe. "From the time I was young, my ambition in life has been to make a difference and leave an impact on our world. My aspiration to be a part of a movement such as ESD Global is firmly rooted in my interest in world events and with my desire to help others. My studies have provided me with a better understanding of issues concerning peace and conflict that have been vital in understanding more broad issues of war, peace, and conflict resolution", she says.
