Federica Lacava
I am an intersectional feminist and Gender scholar, with professional working experience in development and humanitarian contexts across Africa, Latin America and South Asia. I worked with the UN, INGOs and CSOs in programmatic areas including women economic empowerment,migration, sexual-gender based violence, food security and HIV/AIDS. I am also an ESDG Level 1 Women Self Defense instructor and working on outreach as ESDG Regional Coordinator for Africa.
Clara Porter
Clara Porter is the founder and director of Prevention. Action. Change. in Portland Maine. She has over 25 years of experience in the field of violence prevention. She holds a Masters of Social Work, is certified in empowerment self-defense (ESD) with both the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation and Center for Anti-violence Education, as well as in advanced Trauma First Aid. In recent years Porter has been engaged in translating ESD approaches to the work environment, working with organizations in identifying the barriers that exist to a safe and fulfilling workplace and in crafting health-promoting solutions. She is also engaged in piloting a program called Healing Through Empowerment, using ESD as a tool for healing to women who have experienced sexual and interpersonal violence.
Raquel Greene
Raquel Greene describes herself as a mind-reading, color coding, banner-waving, cape-wearing Shero that uses her super powers to drive community causes forward. Raquel is an administrative professional with over 10 years of experience.
She joins ESDG with a history of volunteer work that has deepened her commitment to improving the futures of women and families in underprivileged, underserved communities.
She is excited about making a real impact in people’s lives and is eager to help develop and broaden programming which will transform the lives of women and girls. She is committed to empowering others.
